Frequently Asked Questions -

What do I wear to a Doctor's Appointment or a Physical Therapy Appointment?
The best type of clothes to wear are comfortable stretch clothes such as sweat pants  and a looser
fitting top during the winter or comfortable shorts during the summer.  Comfortable shoes are also
suggested.  If the doctor has recommended aquatic therapy, you can bring your swim wear and a
towel to the first appointment.   However you may not go into to the pool during your first physical
therapy appointment- your therapist will make that decision upon completing the intial evaluation.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
You will receive in the mail a six page form that you will need to complete prior to your
appointment and bring that along.  You will need to bring your insurance cards and any
contact people we need to know about in order to process your insurance claim for you. You
will also need to bring with you a complete list of all medications you are taking both prescribed
and any that are over the counter.  If you can't write these down, pack them up into a bag and
bring them with you.  You will also need to bring the prescription or order for us to provide
physical therapy that you doctor gave you.  We will help you in obtaining the medical records
   necessary for your appointment.

What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is considered an initial evaluation.  At that visit, the provider will review
your history and perform specific tests and measurements to allow them to determine how best to
proceed with treatment.  They will then recommend exercises or other activities that you will
perform as part of your program at home to assist in the healing process. During this initial
evaluation, you and the provider will establish goals to assist with achieving an optimal outcome.
Your first appointments will be longer in length for Doctor about 90 minutes, for therapy 60
minutes.   This is dependent on the registration process and what is accomplished during your
    first visit.

What can I expect at my follow up visits?
During the follow up visits, you and your provider will work together to achieve the goals that
were established at your initial visit.  Any questions or concerns that you have will be addressed at
each visit to assist with achieving the best possible outcome.  Your provider will progress or
change your exercises done at home as progress is made or different issues arise.

If I have an Appointment for Aquatic Therapy in the Pool what can I expect?
You may be meeting with the therapist first to determine where you are in your goals.  You will
need to bring your swimsuit and towel, a locker space is provided.  After you shower, you will enter
the warm therapeutic pool and work with your therapist.

How do I know how much therapy I will receive?
Your therapist will assist you in setting your goals that will best work with your lifestyle.  Some
insurance policies will have set limits however if you meet your goals sooner, you may not need to
use all the benefits. The length of physical therapy time needed varies greatly depending on your
individual issues and your response to treatment. Many patients attend therapy for four to eight
weeks.  Weekly attendance may vary from one to three times per week.  Ultimately your length
of physical therapy will be determined based on your response, active participation, and progress
towards achieving your goals.  As your goals are met you will be given the tools necessary to keep
you on track or guidelines to know when or if you need to return.

Will my insurance pay for your services?
You will need to contact your insurance company to find out your benefits prior to your first
appointment.  We do work with many insurance companies and will try to assist you.
